Developing a nearby travel information application can bring numerous benefits and exciting opportunities. Below are some reasons and sources of inspiration that can motivate you to build such an application:

  1. Ease of use: With a travel app focused on nearby locations, users can easily search for information about tourist destinations, restaurants, hotels, shops, and other interesting points near their current location. This saves them time and effort in searching for information online or asking around.

  2. Exploring the local vicinity: This project helps users discover new destinations in their local vicinity that they may not have been aware of before. If users want to travel within a short distance, the app can provide detailed information about attractive places within a specified radius.

  3. Promoting community tourism: A nearby travel app can contribute to community tourism by promoting local destinations and businesses. Finding and exploring new destinations within the area can stimulate economic development and create employment opportunities for the local community.

User Research

To accurately understand the difficulties that regular people in Vietnam are facing, I conducted both quantitative and qualitative research in the form of Secondary Research.

Trend research

I decided to start with a trends study because it allowed me to gauge the percentage of people who are dissatisfied with traveling each year and also get a general sense of their pain points:

☕ 50% of participants did not learn about places to eat, drink or have fun at tourist destinations

👌 80% of participants had difficulty finding and moving to tourist destinations

Some important Insights:

  • Need to search for information about locations: Users need accurate information about tourist destinations, including activities, destinations and information about local culture and history.

Knowing that I want to explore a new product is a tough start, but I need to go further and answer the questions:

❓What problems are regular consumers in Vietnam currently facing?

✔️What digital solutions can solve those problems?
